CPU: MTK6762V / OS: Android 10 / Battery: 5580mAh

I’d like to introduce you to BlackView’s new outdoor smartphone, the BV4900 Pro. It is a low-priced device with specs that are fine for everyday use and a design that looks like an outdoor smartphone.

It uses Android 10 as its OS and MediaTek’s Helio P22 as its CPU. It is a slightly older model number CPU and has an Antutu benchmark score (Ver 8) of around 90,000 points. As an outdoor smartphone, the BV4900 Pro supports IP68/IP69K waterproof and dustproof standards. It has also passed the US Department of Defense MIL standard tests. The display is a 5.7-inch HD+ (1,440 x 720) LCD. The size is a little small for an outdoor phone, so it is recommended to buy it for daily use. The battery capacity is 5,580mAh. With a low spec CPU and HD display, we can expect a good battery life.

The camera seems to be a tri-lens configuration, but the official information does not reveal details about the two other cameras other than the main camera, a 13MP lens from Sumsung. Perhaps they are lenses to assist in photography, such as a depth perception camera or a monochrome camera, but we don’t know the details. Maybe it’s a dummy lens…

Input/output is micro USB, and USB Type-C is not supported. I would like to see Type-C support here, as the number of people using micro USB is getting smaller. It does have the earphone jack, micro SD card slot, NFC function, and other features that will affect the usability of the device.

It is available in four different colors, which is a lot of choice for an outdoor smartphone. In addition to the usual black and orange, green and yellow are also available. Green or pretty would be nice…. Although it has an 18:9 HD display, there seems to be some bezel on the top of the display. The design reminds me of the early days of vertical displays.

It has the power and volume buttons on the right side. It also has an earphone jack on the top and a Micro USB port on the bottom, both of which are covered by a cover.

The Blackview BV4900 Pro is available at Banggood for $109.99. It’s compact enough for an outdoor phone, and it comes in yellow and green as well as orange, so I can recommend it as a tough device to carry around on a daily basis.
