Xiaomi continues to propel different models of “one-handed” vacuum cleaners to flood the market and gradually drown the competition. The brand touches everything from China, deploys a treasure trove of marketing ideas to cover all segments of this booming market. And after the revival of the Dreame series at the beginning of the year, it’s now the turn of the Jimmy series to catch up.

With this Jimmy JV85 pro, Xiaomi literally breaks the codes of its design. Usually used in the previous versions to pistol grip handles, here we destructure the handle to tilt the grip. This makes it possible to enlarge the area dedicated to the battery and the engine, for more autonomy and power in the end.

On its new Jimmy, Xiaomi offers a digital screen to display battery and power information. Before, everything was displayed via physical buttons on the vacuum cleaner handle. Now, it’s more classy, more modern, except the day the screen doesn’t light up anymore. Small note on the weight, the bugger is still +5 kg, so after a while, it may sting in the arms.

Technically, the Jimmy category was configured to be the entry-level one-handed vacuum cleaner at Xiaomi, with Dreame occupying the top end. But little by little, the differences tend to fade and apart from a few small variations in price and design, the two ranges now appear very similar.

For proof, Xiaomi has literally boosted the engine of its Jimmy JV85 pro with hormones. As a result, there are no more boundaries in its product categories and this allows Xiaomi to completely encircle its main competitor in the one-handed vacuum cleaner market, Dyson.

The engine has a power output of nearly 200 AW, which is huge in comparison, you should know that the Dreame XR Premium already offered 140 AW. Here we are on a big gap, knowing also that the battery seems to hold this power for more than 30 minutes. The engine can be set to three levels of suction power.

As a side effect, noise is a must. With such power under the hood, at maximum power, the vacuum cleaner would wake up a Ronflex. Afterwards, there is no need to use it constantly at power three, at two, it will be sufficient for almost all types of dust or waste.

The lithium battery supplied, displays quite impressive specs, since this toy offers an autonomy of 55 minutes of operation. When you know that the previous versions displayed a 40 minutes, sometimes well managed a 45 minutes of operation, you think that this model of Jimmy holds the road really well. In minimum power, the Jimmy JV 85 pro will allow you to do your housework over a period of 70 minutes.

The Jimmy JV85 pro comes out of the box with a removable (and replaceable in case of breakage) battery, three main brushes, two for scraping and one with the classic roller for any floor. Two tubes are supplied, the main one with its innovative hinge and a flexible tube so you won’t miss any dust. Tried under furniture or under beds, this flexible tube system is really very practical. Once finished, a small cleat upwards and the tube reattaches directly. It remains to be seen in the long term if the hinge will be able to withstand several successive uses. In any case, after testing, the hinge seems really solid.

The Jimmy JV85 pro is a great value if you’re looking for a vacuum cleaner that’s upscale enough without breaking the bank. With its motor power, its improved autonomy and its well thought-out accessories, it will perfectly meet your needs. The only downside is the color, it is only available in one color, unlike the Dreame range which offers more sober designs and depending on the model, various designs.
