Description

EZBook X3 Air is made entirely of metal, a solution difficult to find in this price range. Only the keyboard and trackpad are made of plastic, however of good quality. Very special also the colors chosen by Jumperm that in addition to offering a classic gray version markets the notebook in Mocha Brown, a middle ground between bronze and copper really very special.

Even the screen denotes a high attention to detail: usually we find screens slightly recessed compared to the frame, with the latter very visible. EZBook X3 Air sacrifices something in the lower bezel, very pronounced, but the other three bezels are very thin.

What stands out, however, is the protective glass flush with the screen, which creates a continuous surface, without any indentation, a solution that is particularly effective, not only from a visual point of view. Very good also the build quality and finish, with a satin finish and polished edges, a solution definitely pleasing to the eye. there are no sharp edges, all edges are rounded and slightly rounded.

Slightly jarring, but here it’s just a matter of taste, the small protrusion at the center of the upper frame, where the camera is housed. It must be said, however, that this is a functional solution, since it definitely facilitates the opening of the cover. The screen does not open completely with one hand, but it is a flaw that can be overlooked.

More annoying is the absence of the keyboard backlight, which is especially noticeable in the evening or in dimly lit rooms. It’s true that the screen is bright enough to illuminate the entire keyboard evenly, but with a dark theme it becomes difficult to have a clear view.

Again, this is not such a serious flaw, especially for those who are familiar with the keys. The keys are well spaced, although slightly smaller than a traditional desktop keyboard. they are however very quiet and with not too little travel, which ensures good tactile feedback even for those who are used to a mechanical keyboard. The dimensions are 305 x 198 x 11 millimeters and weight of 1.06 kg, really contained considering the use of metal elements.

If we’ll talk about the screen in a moment, let’s quickly analyze the technical sheet of the EZBook X3 Air, which features an Intel Gemini Lake N4100 CPU with Intel HD Graphics 600 GPU, flanked by 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 128 GB M.2 SSD. There is also a slot at the bottom of the notebook where you can install a second SSD, of type M.2 2280, to expand the internal capacity or for better performance.

In addition to WiFi 802.11 ac dual band connectivity and Bluetooth 4.2, we find two USB ports (one 2.0 and one 3.0), a microSD reader, a USB Type-C port and a mini HDMI. Power is supplied through a dedicated connector, and there is no battery charging through the USB Type-C connector.

The stereo speakers are placed on the bottom of the notebook but their sound is not affected by the position, resulting in any case sufficient, even if the bass is not particularly powerful. Of note is support for the DTS standard, which returns a decent three-dimensional sound, although without reaching absolute peaks.

The battery has a capacity of 4,250 mAh at 7.6 V and provides about 4 hours of battery life without resorting to any kind of power saving. Leaving the battery management to Windows you can still exceed 6 hours, a result still good although not amazing.

The panel chosen by Jumper is a 13.3-inch IPS unit, with FullHD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) very bright and with a very good viewing angle, both vertical and horizontal. Good color rendering and and contrast, even in extreme light conditions.

We have already talked about the flush protective glass and the reduced bezels, but we must also point out the hinge that allows a 180-degree opening (actually something less) that allows you to write with the screen fully down leaving a wide view in front of the user. The screen is not touch-sensitive, but that’s not necessarily a flaw, as this undoubtedly benefits visual quality.

In the face of a particularly long initial configuration, which made us think of an exaggerated slowness, the EZBook X3 Air proved to be always responsive in the situations in which we used it.

Most of the time it has been used for classic office use (we’re also using it to write this review): text writing, web browsing, chatting, watching YouTube videos and retouching with light applications. It’s also capable of running a few games, obviously forgoing high details and resolutions, or else a decidedly reduced frame rate. On the other hand, we’re not dealing with a gaming notebook and it wouldn’t be fair to evaluate it for performance in this area.

The user experience, in the days we used it, was always adequate, with a dozen Chrome tabs, at least three different chats, an email client and GIMP always open in the background. There were no slowdowns or excessive overheating, even though the ambient temperature always exceeded 28 degrees.
